The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition is a simulated hearing under the rules of the WTO dispute settlement system involving exchanges of written submissions and adversarial hearings before panelists on international trade law issues. The competition is organized by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) with the technical support of the WTO in 2002. The teams prepare and analyze a case and present their arguments, both for the Complainant and the Respondent in front of a Panel consisting of the WTO and trade law experts. The aim is to enhance knowledge of international trade law and the WTO dispute settlement procedures as well as to enhance the capacity for meaningful engagement in multilateral trade in the long term. The competition provides law school students with a unique chance to meet face-to-face top trade law expertsand the WTO professionals.
