During May 20 – 22, Civil Rights Defenders organized the 16th Regional Moot Court Competition in Niš, Serbia.

Nine student teams of law faculties from Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Zagreb, Mostar, Novi Sad, Niš, Skopje, Podgorica, and Tirana competed in the moot court this year.

Team “Iustitia” from Niš became the winner of the 16th Regional Moot Court Competition. The team will participate in the Trans-European finals in Strasbourg later this year.

The Regional Moot Court was first organised in 2007 and is inspired by the Nordic Moot Court model, the tradition of which goes back to 1984.

The Moot Court Competition aims to educate and train final years law students from law faculties across the region in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
