The Moot is a project organized by a group of practitioners and academics with a view of contributing to the education of the next generation of arbitration lawyers. It is a competition for university teams with an exclusive focus on cross-examination in international arbitration. Students will attend various rounds of hearings during which they will cross-examine each other’s witnesses and experts.
The 2023 mock case dives into the particulars of the aviation industry in the context of the negotiation of the expansion of an airport under a concession contract between a State and a private company. The case explores the growing importance of ESG obligations and involves corruption allegations. Students will have to cross-examine fact witnesses and economic experts.
