Best moot court performance of the law school throught out the recorded history (2022-2026)About the Law School
Notre Dame began its history of study in London in 1968 with the creation of the London Law Program, the only full-year program for American law students in Britain. For more than a decade, only law students hopped the pond until the London Undergraduate Program hosted its inaugural class in 1981. Shortly thereafter, the LL.M. program was established and allowed for students to complete their degree either in South Bend or in London. This novel move made Notre Dame the only American law school to offer an overseas graduate-degree program.
Since the 2012 designation of the London Global Gateway, Notre Dame endeavors in London have been growing. Each year, more than 400 undergraduates, 50 law students, and many graduate students and faculty spend time in London, for a semester, summer, or full academic year. The London Global Gateway hosts nearly 100 conferences and events, and helps to place approximately 100 students with internships each annually. Graduate students will find opportunities for thesis seminars and dissertation exchanges to accelerate their progress, as well.
For those looking to explore London, the Gateway’s locations are ideally located. Fischer Hall, located in the heart of Trafalgar Square, and Conway Hall, near the South Bank and Waterloo Station, are both walking distance to landmarks, historic sites, and key partners in the area, while close proximity to underground rail stations ensure much of the U.K. is but a train ride away.
