We are happy to share the name of the winner of the 38th William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition – the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law! The North Carolina Central University School of Law became the runner up. The best brief overall belongs to the University of Minnesota Law School and the best appellee brief goes to the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. Our sincere congratulations to all the teams!

This year the 38th annual competition took place online. It was hosted by the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Law School.

The competition was named after William E. McGee, the first African American appointed as a chief public defender in the state of Minnesota. It contributes to promotion of civil rights law and supports further development of participants’ advocacy and writing skills essential to be successful practitioners.

Stay tuned not to miss the announcement of the registration for the 39th William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition 2023!
