The winners of the Asia Cup 2021

On August 18, 2021, the Singapore Management University (Singapore) team took gold in the final of the Asia Cup 2021 oral rounds. Runner-up: Parahyangan Catholic University (Indonesia). It should be admitted that both teams showed brilliant results! Congratulations!

 

The bench of the judges for the final round was as follows:

  • Judge KANEHARA Atsuko, Professor at Sophia University & President of the Japanese Society of International Law,
  • Judge NAMAZU Hiroyuki, Director-General of International Legal Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and
  • Presiding judge TAMADA Dai, Professor at Kobe University.

 

This year, 3 universities became debutants of the competition at once. Chanakya National Law University, Kutafin Moscow State Law University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University took their first time in the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup Moot, or Asia Cup, is an annual international public law competition that is open to law schools in Asia. The competition was inaugurated in 1999 and is held in Tokyo, Japan. The moot problem typically contains issues pertaining to public international law, international humanitarian law, and international human rights. 

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 edition of the moot was canceled, and the 2021 edition was held online.
