ILSA director Lesley A. Benn on behalf of the Board of Directors announced the Jessup Competition’s response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.
To ensure that the Jessup Competition does not contribute to the spread of COVID-19 virus, the 2021 International Rounds won’t be held in Washington, DC next April.
For the first time ever, the 2021 Jessup Competition will be conducted as a fully global online event. Each and every team that registers for the 2021 Jessup will compete in the virtual Global Rounds – with Teams competing against opponents from around the world. The Global Rounds will be spread over a five-week period, beginning in mid-March 2021. National and Friendly Rounds will still take place, but all Teams will be eligible for the Global Rounds.
International law students, legal practitioners, scholars and judges look forward to gathering together, if only online, during the Jessup-2021. Years from now, they will say of the Jessup Class of 2021, “Today, world leaders look upon each other differently, because they first met there, online, as friends.”
Nothing on this earth can stop the Spirit of the Jessup!
